990 N e-Postcard Filings

As a PTA/PTSA you may have questions regarding 990 N e-Postcard filings with the IRS. We hope that the information provided below will help clear up any questions regarding this filing.

All PTA/PTSA units making less than $25,000 a year must file this form online for the past two years. The filings must be made at the end of the PTA phusical year, which is NOW. Failure to file wil result in a loss of the unit's tax income status with the IRS and have to pay Federal taxes. Please use the information below to help you in preparing and filing the 990 N e-Postcard form.

The form is simple and straightforward. You will need the following information before filing:

  • Organization's legal name
  • Any other names the organizations uses
  • Organization's mailing address
  • Organization's Website address, if one
  • Organization's employer identification number (also refered to as a taxpayer' identification number) EIN
  • Organization's annual tax year
  • Aswers to the following questions:
    1. Are your gross receipts normally $25,000 or less?
    2. Has your organization terminated or gone out of business?

Please mark your calendar and invite all your officers and chairmen (especially the President, Treasurer and Membership Chair) to attend our training session on Saturday, August 7, 2010, at the Caddo Parish School Board. Registration is only $5.00 per person.

The District PTA calendar for the year will be distributed which contains many very important dates and contest deadlines. Additionally, you will receive your procedure book with updated and useful treasurer and membership information. Your attendance at this meeting is vital.

A tentative schedule is listed below:

8:00 - 8:30a.m. Registration and Vendor Visitation
8:30 - 8:40a.m. Greeting from Dr. Gerald Dawkins, Superintendent
8:40 - 8:55a.m. Opening Session
9:00 - 9:30a.m. First Breakout Session
9:30 - 10:00a.m. Vendor Visitation & Refreshments
10:00 - 10:30a.m. Second Breakout Session
10:35 - 11:00a.m. District Information & Door Prizes!!

Breakout Sessions include: "Presidents' Pointers", "PTA Money Matters" and "Membership: Great Ideas to Increase you Numbers!". Each attendee will select TWO breakout sessions. Be sure to attend this fun, lively, and informational meeting!!
